Stability with rotation
This test belongs to Gray Cook’s FMS (Functional Movement Screen) test battery. The aim of this test is to assess the coordination and stability of the shoulder girdle, trunk and pelvis in two planes (frontal and transverse).
- Required material: A mat or matting.
- Procedure: It is observed whether there are compensatory movements or instability when performing the test. In the event that the subject is not able to perform the first assessment correctly (illustration A), he/she may perform the test asymmetrically, i.e. extension of a lower limb on one side and flexion of the upper limb on the contralateral side or the approach to the belly of the contralateral elbow and knee (illustration B), in which case the maximum score is 2.
- Assessment: It is assessed according to the criteria of the FMS battery: 0 = If the subject shows pain when performing the test. 1 = If the test is not performed correctly and instability is present. 2 = If you perform the test, but show some kind of compensation. 3 = If you perform the test without showing any type of alteration.
- Remarks: It is observed whether there are compensatory movements or instability when performing the test.
